Do you cream puff?

I made these delicious cream puffs,
and oh my what a treat!

I made cream' de patisierre' but I guess I always like my cream puffs with some chocolate pudding!! it just adds that dose of chocolate, and for me, I gotta have my chocs...

Okay, now that I have you droolin' over cream puffs.. I have to distract you and post a photo of my son Me'Mong's catch from Sunday. I have been so busy at work, I just have a ton of photos that need to be uploaded but just dont find the time, I am too tired when I get home!

YEEHAH.. for e'e' season...and yes, he caught alot on that day. He gave some to my grandma, and then the rest, he gave to the beer drinkers in the familia, for their chesa...

My son, Me'Mong throwing his cast net. Cast Net's or locally called Talaya, are regulated here, they must be registered. So, yes, My son has a license. He is only 13 but he pretty much thought himself how to throw the net. The fish caught are called e'e and you know it is e'e time when the termites are out.......

It's PLAYTIME........

13 Years

Our oldest son (only son) turns "13" today! WOW! What a milestone, he is now officially in the "teen zone". It comes with all the famous "teenage" attitudes too. Today, he wanted a small barbecue for him and two other friends, plus he wants to take them along on jet ski rides and possibly banana boat rides. I made some red rice, and will be barbecuing some short ribs for them today. Wow, our boy is 13! I can't believe it, I am so old. Ofcourse my husband says and feels he is not getting older, but reality hits today...... Our daughter is now 9 and will be ten in October, wow, we ARE getting old.

MeMongs Trip...continued

My son went on a weeklong student exchange trip to Japan. There were five students in his group. I was shocked when I went to the airport and picked him up, because he only had the same lugagge he left with, plus a handcarry bag!! My first question was, Me'Mong, where are your other bags, ( I was thinking he shopped till he dropped and the bag was behind the airport security doors because it was too heavy and he needed my help.........!!! ~~wishful thinking~
So, he left with more than enough money for a week, calculator, and also a cheat sheet which I converted yen to dollar so that he could understand how much he was paying for an item. He came back with nothing..... I was so dissapointed... he did not even buy anything at the 100yen store! OMG....

Me'Mong met up with a family friend Lisa, who lives in Japan. She sent him back with a handcarry bag full of goodies.. Thanks LISA! I am so glad she did, or we would not have had a taste of Japan! I was really hoping that my son would bring back some mentaiko... yum!

My son is back from Japan!

My son just got back from Japan today! I just picked him up from the airport during my lunch hour so we did not really get the chance to talk about his trip. However, I did manage to grab the camera, so here are the photos of his trip. Enjoy.

His host family threw a party for him. That was so sweet! He said he was the only exchange student that had a party in his honour! I am so glad he was with an awesome family. My son said he was treated very well. Hopefully, his student exchange brother/host brother will come out to Saipan in a few months. Me'mong said they were really nice to him.
TAKOYAKI... OMG!! I miss this so much!! I was salivating when I saw it!!
I have a mini TAKOYAKI grill for over the stovetop, but I lost my takoyaki recipe!

Every year, the Japanese Community of Saipan have a fall festival, usually held in the month of October, at the Sugar King Park grounds. I hope they have it again this year, and I hope they have Takoyaki..... yumm... I also especially love the nori flakes on the top.. yum

Okay, so we have officially moved in! Last night was our first night in our new home. My daughter stayed at Grandma's, because there was no a/c in her room yet.
My son is in Japan! Guess what we had for dinner?
Well, I am waiting for the ACE early bird sale tomorrow so that I can purchase a range and a refrigerator. So, we had rice and SPAM! Spam is really good when you have not had it for a while. But, even if I am all grown up and married, I can still hear my mom saying "where is the vegetables on your dinner plate?" Luckily, it was only my husband and I, and our picky eaters were not with us, so our vegetable was coco! LOL..

My son went to Japan yesterday on a one week student exchange! Woopee! I gave him "strict orders" to bring me back some obento items! But, I forgot to tell him to buy me mentaiko! Mentaiko is cod roe, or I call it my Japanese caviar! delicious. I mean even if my son buys me obento items from the 100 yen store (which means they are under $1) then I would still be more than happy!!!

So, the weekend is here! My kids have 4 days off from school! Talk about a long weekend! It is also the Rota Fiesta. I cancelled our reservations for our family, since my son will not be able to go with us. However, since my father's side of the family has roots in Rota, I plan on bringing my kids down to see their family soon.

Hmm.. also, a special message for my brother "Capt. Lawrence" Happy Birthday man!

Do you know what type of fruit is this?

It is locally called chico. It resembles a kiwi fruit!

It seems that our red ginger flowers don't grow fast enough. My mom always takes fresh cuttings of flowers to put on my dad's gravesite, every day.

She prefers red ginger, but substitues with other flowers when our red ginger is not ready.
This is ACHOTE seeds...... yummy when it is used for red rice.

Saturday life

My son has asked my mom to be in charge of picking up and dropping customers on Saturday's.

Well, since my son cannot drive, he has officially "volunteered" my Saturday's...?!

All this... just to get a tip!!

This is how it works out:

My son gets tips.

I get enjoyment out of seeing my son speaking Japanese! basic conversation only.

He has been taking Japanese courses for about 4 months now!

In fact, he heads off on a student exchange next month to Japan, and he is excited about it!
