Lunch

We had lunch at Coral Ocean Point, it was okay, since I wasn't paying. If it were my choice, I would spend $2 more and go to an all you can eat buffet like PIC or even Grand's AOI.

But the company is good, so the food was good.

Friday's Lunch

Friday's lunch...
We went to the Fiesta Resort's Chambre bar, but it was packed, so we ended up walking across the street to the Japanese Restaurant. since I did not really like the texture of the rice, I will not name the restaurant. (I am pretty picky with my rice, I do not like it too wet and I do not like it too dry either, in between is just perfect for me... But the texture on this rice was not to my liking, I only ate half of the roll below). BUT, the food in general was good.

Friday Lunch....

Today's lunch was at Cappricciossa! I always love eating at Cappricciossa!
The service is always consistently good.

Lunch with my Mom,
Auntie Brenda and the Governor of the CNMI!

Auntie Brenda and Governor Fitial

This is one of the best pumpkin pie's on island!
Here is the critic side of this food blog: sometimes I get a pumpkin pie with fresh crust and sometimes the crust is a bit soggy. Either way, it is still yummy.

This is the dessert I mentioned in a previous blog, "Fritori'.

Meat sauce spaghetti. This is the special lunch, so it came with garlic bread. However, I prefer my usual order of seafood spaghetti!

Rosemary Chicken

Ceasar Salad

CHEESE....WOOOHOOO.....
From left to right: My darling mom "Ki" and my loving Auntie Brenda

From left to right: Uncle Bill and myself. We were trying to make silly faces!
I think Uncle Bill wins the prize on this one! LOL

From left to right: Myself, First Lady Josie Fitial, and Uncle Bill

Well, it turned out to be a really good lunch! I always love going to Cappricciossa, and this time the food was great, the company was even better and I got to eat two desserts in one sitting!!! (Fritori and pumpkin pie!)
woohoo.. I am a happy camper!

On a side note: Weight Watchers, here I come! LOL

Lunch on Thursday

Raymond and I went to Diamond Chinese Restaurant for lunch on Thursday. I go there for two reasons:
1) The food is served lightning fast,
2) The service is good
3) Lunch is ridiculously cheap! $4/lunch order includes soup and rice!
4) I had to refill my gumball machines that are located inside the restaurant.
(Wow, that is 4 reasons!)

Crabmeat corn soup
Crispy fried chicken wings (something about the way the texture is of these chicken wings, I think they use corn starch instead of flour, or something because the texture is very light!)
Sweet and sour pork
Beef Brocolli

Lunch with Auntie Brenda....

I had lunch with Auntie Brenda last Friday...
Whenever Uncle Bill and Auntie Brenda (from Alaska) would come to Saipan (which is very often, now twice a year!!) she would take each of us girls out to lunch, so we can have our time to chat.. We got to pick where we wanted to go. For the last three weeks, I have been craving for a really good oven roasted turkey breast sandwich (not the deli style). Ray and I went to Wild Bills last week (previous post) and we were not allowed to sit at the table of choice, so we exited the restaurant and I ended up not having my turkey breast sandwich! So, when Auntie Brenda asked me where I wanted to go for lunch, I said COFFEE CARE, because I have been craving for a really, really good turkey breast sandwich! It was hilarious because I was so excited, I was looking forward to it all day!

We both ordered a roasted turkey breast sandwich, except Aunt Brenda had it on a roll and I had sourdough.. yumm

I shared my issues with my growing son, who is now becoming (and acting) like an average teenager. Oh my...
Anyway, I also got some requested zuchinni seeds so I can plant them in the backyard! Zuchinnis are yummy. It is difficult to find fresh zuchinnis on island. They are also flown in by air therefore costing consumers more money per pound. So, if I can plant them that means we will always have fresh zuchinnis.. (zuchinni bread, zuchinni stirfry, zuchinni etc!)

Plus, the most requested item was a knox box.. This is really helpful! you can leave your key locked in and secured outside of your door, etc.

Lunch with Auntie Brenda.. and the ever important photo after!
Thanks Auntie Brenda..... !

sleeping bear

Today's obento for the kiddies is titled
SLEEPING BEAR

The bear is sleeping on a bed of rice. The two brown arms are made of kamabuko sticks, and he is surrounded with a seafood pasta to his left, and cucumber and carrot sticks to his right and below, respectively. The bear is wearing a skirt, which is made up of a blue mini cupcake holder and some dried fruit (trail mix)! Her eyes are made up of cheese, and she also has a spam hairbow above.. Yummy!

Lunch for the day

Hi everyone! I think today is going to be a busy day!!
One of the pipes at the new house busted this morning, which means I have to go home and wait for the plumber to come! Oh geez, don't you noticed that things are bound to go wrong when you are the busiest at work?
Plus, we woke up late again today. The kids attend private school which is about a 20 minute drive from home, so my hubby usually drops them every morning. This means that they need to be out of the house by 0700 am in order to make it on time. I was unsure what to make for their obento as I woke up at 0630 am, AGAIN! I quickly looked at my pantry and saw a box of tuna helper! PERFECT, and that was their main dish for lunch!
Anyway, today's lunch for the kids is:
  • Macaroni, cheese and tuna (TUnA HELPER)
  • Sugar Snap Peas
  • Carrot sticks
  • Banana
  • Cheese Quessadilla
  • Hotdog
  • Boiled Egg
  • Grilled Cheese Sanwich

I was glad because I was able to freeze the leftover mac/tuna melt, for obento another day!
I will go grocery shopping today, I really need obento items!
What do you make for obento when you don't have enough time?

Sushi

My hubby an I went to Sushiland for lunch yesterday!
We ordered their delicious california roll, salmon roll, spicy salmon and also their famous signature dish the "Lania roll" the lania roll is actually the spicy tuna roll, and Lania in Saipan is really a bad word, which means like SHIT! but it was a hilarious move on the part of management and they hit it off, because, I guess folks enjoyed ordering a LANIA Roll!
The problem was they only had ONE Lania Roll Left!!! Lania' dai?!

Today's Lunch

We had a small family gathering at my house last night for my nephew's 11th birthday! My sister's family was the last one to leave at or around 11pm. Therefore, we all slept late, and woke up late this morning! OH MY! We woke up at 0630, which did not give me time to cook rice. So, I made sandwhiches and roll ups for the kids, today! I hope they won't complain, tonight!
The kids have:

Sweet Bread with scrambled egg
One tortilla wrap with melted colby jack cheese
One tortilla wrap with roasted turkey and mozarella cheese
Sugar snap peas
Carrots
Macaroni Salad
My son, the boy that he is, forgot his laptop lunch box at ? who knows where, so I had to squeeze all of his food in a small container.

I need to do what my sister does, cook big meals once a week and pack and freeze them till needed. I have heard about freezing rice, but have not tried it yet. This would be my biggest obstacle to making obento is that I try to make sure I have fresh rice in the bento box, because Saipan is so hot and humid, rice spoils really fast, if in a hot place. Although the kids classrooms are all airconditioned, I just freak about giving rice from the night before, or?

Anyone have any good tips on freezing/storing rice?

Okay, happy blogging all!
By the way, I joined a obento newbie contest today, I hope I win.. wish me luck!

Pacific Blue Marlin

My brother caught another Pacific Blue Marlin last week...
Yesterday, we fillet the marlin..

Step 1: dust with seasoned flour

Step 2: Egg Wash

Step 3: Dip in bread crumbs (I like using Panko/Japanese bread crumbs)

Step 4: Let rest for atleast 10 minutes
Step 5: FRY

Step 6: Serve

Well, we actually did not eat them, we delivered them to San Vicente Church to help celebrate Father Rey Rosal's 20th year ordination anniversary! We did manage to steal several of them to munch on while we were cooking them, and oh my, so delicious!

As a treat for our hardwork that day, I made a cappuccino blast on my vita mix! YUMMY

My nephew, my daughter and my son, all enjoyed the afternoon drink... So did my sister and I..

I even made fresh whipped cream on my kitchen aid.. yummy! *By the way, in Saipan, a container of whipped cream will cost you like $7 FOR ONE CAN at Price Costco. I remember I used to pay under $7 for 3 cans of quality whipped cream in the mainland. Therefore, it is cheaper when I make it myself! And ofcourse, it always taste better because I put in alot of love.. LOL Whipped cream all gone... yummy for my tummy!
